Roadie Trip Easter Vaca

The spousal unit reminded me late last week that she had Good Friday off.  Sounded like a great opportunity for a roadie trip to the beach to me!

We decided on Orange Beach.  A search came up with a Condo through VRBO, which was significantly lower than going through a Realtor.  Trade winds is an older complex, but oh, what a view!

Roadie trip went through Biloxi.  Had to get my Shed Head fix.  They have a sampler plate that I can't resist!  Not sure where they get their wait staff from, lots of colored hair and tattooed body parts.  To each his own I guess.

We get back on I-10 into the traffic stream, bumper to bumper.  Suddenly I see parts of a fire pit log coming at me!  That sucker exploded when it hit the pavement.   Car behind me not so lucky.

A few minutes later, there is a bicycle tumbling down the road!  Everyone is dodging it at 70 miles per hour!  What the hell????
A few minutes later we come upon the culprit.  Family driving a RV, pulling a car, which has a bike rack mounted on the back is missing part of its load.  The bracket was flopping with each bump and we could see the loose wingnut!  Finally! We are in Alabama!

When traffic is light we usually go thru the tunnel.  Heavier traffic, we take the Bay Bridge.  After today, no more tunnel!  We were half way through and the traffic came to a halt.  I look in my rear view mirror and I see a car weaving thru traffic like he was on a James Bond movie!  Fortunately he stopped just before rear-ending two cars!

Made it to the beach.  Condo is older, but located almost dead center of the strip.  Walking up to the building we were greeted by a cute brunette in a black bikini, saying " are you guys just getting here?   It's fantastic! " .  And the view, OMG! (Of the gulf!)

Made the Wally world run, then dinner.  The spousal unit chose "the Gulf", an outside venue, beach side, and constructed out of shipping containers.  They have two lines for you, food order window and the beverage bar.  Very informal, and a limited menu.  Great atmosphere during the cool spring air.

The restaurant was full of foreigners speaking strange dialects.  Everybody we met was from Wisconsin, Indiana, and Kentucky.  You can tell them apart from us.  We wear flippers this time of year.  Those northern aggressors have there shorts on alright, along with their white tube socks and street shoes!

Tomorrow is another day in paradise.....
