Know Your Food Groups

With young kids, we have spent a lot of summer vacations in Orlando.  It doesn't take your kids long to get bored with the same location year after year.  We have discovered that there are three best times to go to the attractions down there:  your first time without the kids, the kids first time, and when you take someone that has never been.

On one of our trips, our youngest, Morgan, brought along one of his classmates, "Nick".  Nick grew up in a household full of boys, with a mother that stayed at home, and a Dad that was a trained Chef.  This family rarely ate out, and most of their vacations were spent visiting family back in Virginia.

We usually take two days to get to Orlando, with an overnight stay in Tallahassee, which means lots of food and drink stops.  After a few stops, I'm figuring out that Nick eats nothing but Mac & cheese and chicken nuggets!  My mine is now at work.  Next restaurant, we are placing our order and for an appetizer I order calamari.  The appetizer arrives at the table, and I suggest to Nick that he try it.  He asks what it tastes like, and I say "sort of like an onion ring".  Finally Nick agrees to give it a try.  As he is about to take his first bite, he asks what is it made of?  As his teeth sink into it, I say, "its made from fish testicles, er, I mean fish tentacles"!

Needless to say, that first bite of calamari didn't go all the way down........
